The aims of this operation are, on the one hand, to respond to certain real housing requirements for resident senior citizens at Sperlonga from buildings which are isolated, abandoned or offering unsuitable living conditions and, on the other, to lay some groundwork for avoiding instances of marginalization and new poverty in the immediate future.
Being at the head of Sperlonga’s new Strada Parco the operation is characterized by its collocation, underscoring the administration’s willingness to lay down as points of meeting and dialogue in the building, both internally and externally, wide spaces which communicate with the surrounding environment, pivotal to the building’s existing constitution rather than representing some de-contextualized oasis. The dimension of the spaces, their functional organization and the characteristics of what they offer are all dictated by the initial assumption of an operational service modality of the living arrangement in its entirety, within a broader socio-healthcare organization of surrounding civil and infrastructural service support. |
