"La Rotonda" Retirement Home
Terracina (LT)

In the fashion of the coiffure of Japanese women, which gathers the hair about the face, the indoor spaces of the retirement home "La Rotonda" are centred around its garden onto which, by way of an extended glass door, all the common spaces face.

At the garden side, the main semi-circular body where the rooms and common areas are positioned, two spaces serve as clinics, the areas of rehabilitation and worship which, though respectful of the continuity of the building’s sectioning, nonetheless interrupt the geometric uniformity of the main semicircular body which gives life to the entrance side.

The lodge shading protrudes beyond the glass doors and perimeter walls: exalting the dynamism of the juxtaposition of spaces, briese-soleil screens of wooden staves and steel anchoring systems simultaneously favour interspatial thermal-humidity wellbeing.
